BIO

Little Gérard L'her

(France)

Little Gérard L'Her was born in Paris on the 25th of September 1952. He's been fond of music since his childhood. He's only 10 years old when he joins the french choir "Les Petits Chanteurs de l'Ile de France", and starts learning classical and pop music as well as singing. By the time, he has a light soprano voice !

The choir gives numerous live performances in France and abroad. During the summer vacation of 1963 they are touring England, Scotland and Ireland. Little remains very impressed and moved by this first trip in the british islands, where he already feels at homeand gets familiar with the language, as well as the culture. The following year, he discovers a brand new world : the recording studio! Along with the choir, he participates to many sessions for some famous french artists : Nana Mouskouri and Michel Legrand, Sacha Distel, France Gall, Lucky Blondo, and so on... In the meantime, Little takes his first classical guitar lessons. Pretty soon, the classical will turn into an electric guitar. Music is definitively part of his life.

When he's 14, he starts playing the double bass, but during a trip to London, he discovers in a shop window what will become the love of his life : the electric bass. Since then he begins to play and sing in local rock bands until he meets the singer Christian Le Bartz. So the Crystal see the light, with the guitarists Guy and Alain Maratrat, that in some years, after the fundamental meeting with the producer Claude Lemoine, will become Les Rockets.

The band will get an extraordinary success, thanks to the futuristic sound, made from the mix of experimental rock and electronics, to the peculiar "alien" look (the historical silver bald heads and the space suits) and to particularly spectacular gigs, with experimental use of laser, fireworks, smoke, gong on fire, and so on. Especially in Italy, with albums like "On The Road Again" (1978), "Plasterod" (1979), and most of all "Galaxy" (1980), with which they got the platinum record for selling over 1 million copies.

The career of Little with the Rockets, as a bass player, author and voice, goes on until 1984, when he leaves the band. He will keep dealing with music, both as an author and as a musician for french bands, but he prefers to remain far from the show business world.

The willing absence from the stage goes on for 20 years, until he meets the Universal Band (official Rockets tribute band) in 2005. At the same period he starts writing unreleased pieces of music ; it's the beginning of a musical and human friendship with the guitar player Gennaro Splenito and the keyboard player Andrea Majocchi, who, during 2007, will work together with him on the pre-production of his first soloist album.

In 2008, in a not so perfect world, Little comes back, unexpected but strongly wanted by all his fans, with "A Perfect World", intense and grown up album, produced and edited by Sara Ferrari Edizioni Musicali, and realized with some arrangements of Splenito and Majocchi, and the artistic production of the SFEM staff and of the same Little.

Laëtitia Lewis met Little Gérard in June 2012 in a very small city in France and they became friends.

She proposed to help him for his promotion and find a label in USA.
